square edge tiles?

OK i'm having a night mare - client has supplied large square edge tiles for walls to cover 35 m2. The problem is the walls are as flat as a rollercoaster (in some areas i would need 3' of adhesive) i said get the walls skimmed to which he said if your a good tiler you should be able to sort it especially as your billing me top dollar, i said you could pay £500.00 a m2 i would still struggle to get it level.

The job you do is only as good as the surface you do it on, if its that bad then tell him you wont comprimise the quality of your work by trying to tile on a poor surface. If he refuses to get it skimmed then i would walk mate. Sounds like he is going to be a problem customer anywayz...and we all hate them!

I agree. You are a tiler not a builder. Builders build walls tilers tile them!

German tilers...enter room to be tiled...only with a long level...check all surfaces and only tile if flat.We should adopt the same attitude......Gaz

I wouldn't attempt it. Tiler not a magician, you can't bend tiles

Tilers used to do the render at times and then tile on that so I'd convince myself if he's paying for it to take it on. So i'd either board it or use dot n dab type mix just to skim it a bit myself (as it stays rought as hell for a good key) and charge him for it and smile. lol

Is it really 3" out?

You could also use loads of old tiles to pack out the bad bits if they are small and infrequent yet deep.
