stone for smoothing the edge of tiles

hi there. i could have done with a a stone to smooth the edges of tiles today . i had to put a few tiles on a wall but align the joint with the fllor joints and stop the second on a corner. iv seen some diamond stones for the job. would a old fassioned ( but new) sharpening stone ( carorundum i think) work for the odd time id need it
or is there something else i could use
