hi all,,recently done a quotation but was beaten by someone with my price,,the certain someone who got the job is a tiler who sometimes subs me work,,not getting as much as i quoted but still a decent wage which in my opinion is better than having no wage,,do many of you guys do sub work.??

To be honest work is work sometimes you have to bite the bullet and earn a bit less than normal, I,ve done many a time working on site on price but it was housing work so no big areas and loads of cutting, Thats life.

ive subcontracted most of my working life

these days however i try to stay within a 100 mile radius

i work for a big building contractor and and i work for £18 m2 labour only very easy work they think i expensive sometimes you cant be greedy dont go to low but knock off a bit on your price easy work on site and you can gain more money

im new to tiling and im pricing at £18m2 for these particilar site jobs and its working out a treat really, as they have changed their mind on several occasions on what is actually being tiled and it gets less each time  yet im still be getting my 18 per m2. ive had to do alot of driving about dealing with suppliers and developers etc which i guess will actually lose me money for this first job but if i do well theres already plans for the next appartments so it will lead onto alot more work. so in effect... i might be earning less m2 wise or whatever but like you said before, theres money coming in
