Hi guys, got a swimming pool to quote and need a few questions answering. Never done a pool before. Pool is indoor has a flat bottom and is constructed of concrete on top of a waterproof membrane. The tiles are going to be glass mosaic with nosed tiles around the edge and then porcelein floor tiles on top of underfloor heating and a cement screed. One of my concerns is the pool surface finish, the floor has been machine flat but where the cement has been poured in for the sides there is lipping between where the panels were. I have told the customer that any deformaties in the sub surface will have a reflection on the mosaic surface and he said this would be sorted prior to tiling.

Other queries are

1. Tank with BAL tanking kits?
2. Use white base cement flexy ady?
3. Start from the top and work down?
4. Epoxy grout, never used it before is it really that bad?
5. I charge £35/m for mosaic, do you charge more or less for a pool?
6. Do you use a 3mm trowel as normal?

I think i've covered most of it, any input would be great as i'm a bit worried about missing something, cheers Laur

Take out wall irregularities, after removing mould release agents/all contamination with Mapei Nivoplan (2 - 30mm each coat)

Apply Mapei Mapelastic waterproof tanking (used in alot of pools all over UK)

Fix in Mapei Adesilex P10 incoporating 50% Mapei Isolastic
Start from top and stagger the mosaic sheets. 3mm trowel at close centres should give a solid bed without too much adhesive oozing through joints.

Grout with Mapei Kerapoxy (26 colours to choose from).
Epoxy grouting easy with the correct method and kit. viz

1 apply grout with hard rubber squeegee
2 remove excess by drawing squeege diagonally accross joints
3 emulsify residue with emulsifing pad/gripper.
4 remove film by wiping with damp sponge. avoid over wiping as this will lead to you just pulling grout out of the joint.
5 Remove "bloom" after curing with dry lint free cloth.

Movement Joints to BS 5385 Part 4 :1992 clause 7.2.8. Prime with Mapei Primer FD and fill with Mapei Mapesil AC colour to match grout (27 colours available)

Not familiar with what fixers charge you should ask a good one what he would charge

hope everything goes well. If you need to give me a ring in Mapei technical
