Hi All,

I recently purhased a Tuff 2 former and tanking kit (Dura WP) and am about to start laying the membrane. Before doing this can you please tell me if I need to prime the floor surface first? The floor is a 22mm plywood substrate which has been sealed using BAL Bond SBR on the bottom and sides. Do I need to prime the top surface and if so what primer do I need to use.

Also my tanking kit is 10m. I have a Tuff2 tray former that measures 1300 x 800. Should I be tanking the entire bathroom floor or just the tray former area?

Any help and advice appreciated.

Kind regards

Hi Tony,

I have looked at the preparation instructions on the Keraquick bags which says the following:

Gypsum substartes must be dry and treated with a coat of PRIMER G . Anhydrite screeds must be dry and their surfaces must be abraded and treated with a coat of PRIMER S or PRIMER G.

Do Hardibacki Boards (on my walls) and wooden floors (22mm Ply) fall into these categories and if not can you recommend a primer that will work on the floor and walls with Mapei Keraquick.

Many thanks

Chris
