Bathroom will be tiled soon, probably upto a week from now.

However to save time I dont mind tanking the over bath area myself.

I have bought an aquaseal kit, in the various steps listed it says a minimum of 6 hours between first and second coat of tanking membrane. Hence time wasted around for a tiler while this dries.

Is it ok to carry out the tanking, and then not have the tiles go up immediately?

As in tank and then tile approx a week later? That would give me time to find a suitable tiler, and then once the tiler arrives he doesnt have to waste time waiting for tanking coats to go dry.

The tanking bit looks easy enough.

Thanks for confirming that, feels better to know your doing it right.

Your right I have a job finding a good tiler! Is everyone really busy at the moment?

In regards to the tanking, would that same principle apply to the areas that are just normal walls and only need priming with sbr? Or does normal priming areas need to be done just before tiling, and if so, how much sooner, does it have to be same day ish?

It would probably be better if I did the whole room in one go, and the no more ply boards.

It all needs priming mate, 3 parts water 1 part primer. You can do it whenever you want, it doesn't matter. Bare plaster needs 2 coats basically one straight after the other. You can't expect to get a decent trades man at a weeks notice at any time of the year. I would expect 2 or 3 weeks wait, minimum for anyone half decent

Unless someone has a spare week in between jobs

It can sit for as long as need be.
Tanked this on Tuesday & it won't be getting tiled for nearly a fortnight.
