tanking question.

Have to tile a bathroom with a quadrant shower in the corner, have bought mapei aquadefense which came with a corner strip, do I install the corner strip first and tank over that when I tank the walls, or the other way around and tank the walls then install the corner strip? Doesn't say on the destructions which way it should be done... I suppose the other option would be to tank the walls, apply the corner strip and the tank over the strip as a third coat? The strip is a solid waterproof material with a fold line with a scrim tape type material about an inch wide on either side. Cheers Andy.

I precut the tapes then use a paint brush to brush aquadefence on then use a filing knife to flatten the tapes into the paint then paint aquadefence back on the top of the tape.
Leave to dry & give the whole thing a once over again, cross coat the 2 coats.

As you said at the end of your post.
apply tanking to the corner, internal vertical edge and join with the tray. Stick on corner and tape. Then tank over the lot, I like to apply one thin coat ( seems to stick better) then use a roller to apply a second coat.

Another quick question, have applied two coats and have at least half of the coating still left, as I'm unlikely to use it before its recommended use by date is there any reason not to apply a third coat or will this be detrimental to the desired effect?

With aquadefense you will be fine with a third coat. I tend to apply up to 3 coats to get a nice uniform colour & finish
