tempory sticking tile

hi there.
i have a job to do where the customer wants to try the layout on the wall before comitting:yikes:
i was going to stick up each side of the shower with a different layout

is there any thing i can stick them on with like silicone etc. they would be stuck to the old tiles or to the ply behind when its cleaned off.
i think silicone would be too good and make getting the tiles off dificult.
i dont want to put anything on there that will stop the addy sticking.

i was also thinking of getting some kind of bracket or strip that i could screw on holding the tile below and giving a lip to sit the next one in

You could just draw lines in the grid pattern you wish to use

Have you thought of doing it on a computer?
You could take a pic of the room with a tile in place. Use copy in Paint and then keep pasting the copy, if you see what I mean?

that would work with a normal customer but unfortunitly no. looks great on the ground but they want them on the wall.

This would probably be my choice..........a great excuse (and the only time you would want) to find the cheapest nastiest tubbed gear.......and a perfect time to show your client why you dont use it for tiling :smilewinkgrin:

Put 1 blob of ready mixed in the middle of the tile & it will pop back off with a scraper.

iv got a tub of pre mixed in the shed for the last 3-5 years. would it be ok to use for this . im afraid that it will work too well .
il try the hot melt glue tomorow on 2 old tile to see if it will hold too much

7-8 inch x 10 inch roughly. ceramic i think

I would stick 4 blobs, 1 in each corner, on the back of the tile. As long as you are taking them back off quite quick then i think thats the cheapest/easiest way to go to keep the client happy.

Stick cardboard & sheets down just in case.

sorry. im a meteic guy too but find that most use outdated system like that. i often do site work where you have to use imperial so that other trades can know whats going on

Just stick "lining paper" to the shower walls, blob the tiles onto it with your out of date tubbed addy, then rip the lot off when done. Saves the mess and saves ruining the walls.
