textured porcelian

hi guys ,
got a bathroom to do with a ivory tex porc tile, would you suggest sealing this tile prior to setting ,or set then seal , or not seal ,i have used the aqua mix high gloss sealer in the past to good effect, or could i just use a penetrating sealer such as the aqua mix ultra-solv, any ideas guys, or could anyone suggest another brand of sealer ,, thanks all Neil.

Are they through bodied porcelain or a pressed glazed finish..?..

Not all porcelain needs to be sealed..

hi dave they are through bodied porcelian,did a floor once in a black tile like this ,gruoted it and cleaned of it looked great, when it dried it looked a mess , had to scrub it clean this was a nigtmare, when i sealed after it looked great , dont what to do the same again, its just that i now think that this type of tile has to be sealed or am i wrong mate and should have cleaned up after groutng and used a grout haze remover , what do you think DAVE .

I think that it was probably the texture in the tile grabbing the grout residue....how long did you leave it before cleaning off...?

If the face of the tile is exactly the same colour as the back of the tile and edges it will be through bodied.....

If in doubt wet the face of the tile and leave it dwell then wipe off after 5mins or so and if the tile has damp patch on it then it will benefit from a sealer.

Normally it is just the polished through bodied porcelain needs sealing as the polishing open pores in the tiles surface....but some of the newer press faced tiles are the same....
