it was very hot and just seemed to go on and on i was 16 years old and running about on yamaha FS1E-DX moped ,chasing all the little girls around, god i wish life was as simple now

I was 19 at the time and like you say Dave life seemed so more simple then....

Seems I was born in a generation where tech' was good but weather was rubbish then.

Not sure how you pulled with this bad boy.

1976 I was ten and we had to cut our camping holiday short because of the water shortage. We cold get no water at the campsite taps. Was telling my boy how different the world was then. No computers, no mobile phones, mars bars were less than 10p and you could play football in the road without getting run over, arrested or abused by road rage motorists for holding up their journey for a few seconds.

We didn't get bowsers wher I lived. We had to queue at a standpipe. Funny thing though I used to go swimming pretty much every day and the town swimming pool never seemed to run short of water......

we used to swim in the river thames in Oxford where morse was filmed the trout-inn ,we camped down the river all summer with girls from our school,because no-one in the whole year could get a job,as the country was in a recession then as well,something's never change, and elvis Costello wrote oliver's army about our generation i think, that moped Dan, same colour as mine was :wub: we even when down to weymouth on them a good 3 hour's in a car took us about 8 hours at top speed of 50mph :yikes: i have been watching a few of the ON THE BUSES films they were set in the 70's the roads look so quite ,good time then i think!!!

i was 16 in 76 just started work. brought home £16.50 a week . i could go out on town 3 nights a week on that and have a damn good time. and yes it was hot

I was born in 71 and all this talk of water shortage in 76, not where I was in Iver Heath, either that or my Mum was a rebel cos I had a wolloping great big plastic swimming pool in the back garden, right up until I took a running jump into it and put my leg through it, and that was the end of that.

I can remember the summer and going to the coast. One white painted hotel had been turned red. There was an unbelievable amount of ladybirds and they just went on this one 4 storey hotel. Really weird to see but it has stuck in my mind since I was a kid.
