Doesn't actually surprise me sadly. I've met people who move to the country only to move back because they of the occasional smell of muck slurry. Some even make formal complaints.

The conker issue keeps cropping up in the UK, absolutely ridiculous, there is this primary school somewhere, can't remember where, where the kids in the playground could only play with safety goggles on... mad... oh yes, and the leaves in said street were supposed to be slippy on the pavement... mad...

There's a potential whole new line of work there, removing conkers from the trees.

When visiting Hawaii some years ago I asked why there were no coconuts on the trees. Apparently some years ago one fell on a tourists head in the grounds of a hotel and she sued and won compensation, so now everybody pays $70 a tree a couple of times a year to have them removed.
