I did the 2 week course earlier this month and now spent the latter 2 weeks collecting the tools (postie sick of me now). I think I'm just about there so time to start annoying people I know for a while before going out in the big bad world.

I did a plastering course a couple of years back and started the same way - doing work for free until I built up my confidence. amazing how many people come out the woodwork when free labour is on offer:lol:

with the plastering I just did it for free until I felt confident enough to charge. at least they all knew I was only learning so couldnt really complain if i was slow or did a bad job.
You definately need to be confident in your abilities when you go into a paying customers house but I take your point, I don't want to build a reputation as a soft touch...
