Tile on tile

I never tile on tile but the bathroom I am om at the moment 2 walls have been tiled straight onto sand & cement rendering and they are stuck like xhit to a blanket, I would have to destroy the wall to get them off, these appartments are known for this, whats the best addy to tile over them, believe me removing them is not an option. Thanks.

You no doubt are aware of the weight restrictions, drying times, debonding issues etc for tiling on tiles.

And if they are glazed tiles then standard flexi adhesive will not stick.

Knock em off and Dot and dab PB onto it..

This is not an option believe me, strong sand & cement on to breeze block and then tiled on, the bond is incredible, will not knock but just splinters, would end up demolishing the inner skin of the wall.
One internal plaster skimmed wall they fell off, these appartments are known for this and others have had to tile on tile, a few years ago I did one a few doors down and I managed to remove them there, but on this one they must have used a stronger mix.Cheers

mapei kerabond t adhesive mixed with isolastic will be good enough for tile on tile spec mix a 5 litre isolastic with 20kg of kerabond t makes it an s2 addy

forgot to add you dont need a primer for this either...i did suggest pci primer 303 but it works out expensive if your using pci addys

This sounds like the old CTF2 on render , it will take World war 3 to shift them I would score the face as much as poss. to create a key, then go with adhesives recomended above good luck.

I might have misread this, are they fixed in sand & cement. If so same advice, we didn't expect to knock them off in those days

Cutting a hole for a spur connection to feed lights on vanity unit yesterday and really struggeled, gave up with the lump hammer and bolster and got the whizzer out, dusty but effective, these walls are really tough.
