Good luck getting the grout out without chipping the tiles, it's a mare of a job. What are the tiles, and what size grout line? You can use a grout rake, but i find that you're even more likely to chip the tiles with one (others may get on better with them). A small screwdriver works for me, but it takes a long time... You can't just grout over the existing grout, although you don't really need to get it all out, just aim for over half the thickness of the tile. Good luck with it.

i've just raked out a 16m2 bathroom today with a grout rake, screwdriver and stanley knife and only chipped 1 tile!(sweat was pouring from me) total pain in the *** i will agree but but when re-grouted will look better than it was even though the tiling is a bit sub-standard!
