Tile support in tanked shower?

Well I did it and have now used homelux to tank my aquapanel shower. I decided that I would rather be safer than sorry later, and I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process! Do I need to get a life I wonder?

Anyway next step now and my next question. I have usually used a horizontal batten to support the first row of tiles and have secured this with a couple of nails/screws. I would imagine that this would not be good practice as it would 'puncture' the tanking. Am I correct in this assumption and what do others do in this situation.

tradetiler sells baton stands(so does lidl but it's up 2 you on that one)
or you can put the floor down first and give yourself a level base to work from!

Thanks David, I'm working on a shower over a bath and the bath is level would it be good practice to use this as the starting row?
