Tile Trim for Limestone?

Evening all!!!!

Need some advice on installing my 12mm limestone around the window. Should I add some 12mm tile trim to make it look neater or is the general opinion with natural stone not to have the trim?

Its personal choice rob, if you can find a trim that matches....or you can pencil edge them with router....Gaz

Just done some Limestone in Covent garden and used chrome trim but that was a commercial job. As Gaz says its personal preference.

that is totally down to your personal taste as to what is more esthetically pleasing, i personally don't like any of the plastic trims with it and i have never put chrome trims with it. i did once used a metal trim that was enameled with a colour called "soft cream jasmine" or "cream" to any normal person, it looked smart with travertine

Most table rail cutters will tilt the blade motor for mitreing, this would be my preferred method....Gaz

totally agreee....but if i had to..... go metal square edge

Mitre, bullnose, or metal trim would be what I'd do. The first two ones are preferable imo.

Take the edge off with a small mitre cut. I prefer about 1/3 of the tile width. Not using a trim means you must be very accurate, but the end result looks so much better!

If you don't have a saw which can do a consistent clean mitre / bullnose, you could always file down the edge after fixing, using a diamond file or even better a dremel with a diamond tip. (but don't slip with the Dremel!)

Looks like I'll be giving the trim a miss then from what everybody says (I'm not too keen on the chrome trim).

I could give the mitre a go but I may have a practice on a scrap bit of time first!

I've used all the methods mentioned above over the years, trim , mitre, profile cut, etc but for me, a plain well constructed butt joint with the edge honed to remove all saw marks still looks the best IMO. I use hand diamond stones for honeing edges but with limestone various grades of sandpaper wrapped around a timber block will suffice.
