Tile wall level compensation?

Just finished a wall in cement sheet screwed to bricks and is out by 1mm I wonder what to use to prop up the tile to level with the rendered wall above .

The way I've read it is he's got a step from the lower boarded half to the rendered upper half. I'd just use a bigger notch trowel on the lower half. Unless of course I've misunderstood the whole thing!
