dont worry i wont chop it up. i might try cleaning it thow.

i havent one yet but its on the list. im putting together an order for trade tiler in a few days (hence all the tool posts) i cant see any tiling to do in the next week or two so theres no rush.

dont get a karl damm one alan m, no wheels on em.seen better ones about and they can be heavy when full

why not get a karl damn one , they are the best imo, and why would they be heavy, you dont fill them to the top with water , i just fill about 3-4 inch above the grill

Karl Dahm is a very good wash boy, far superior to the rubi.

Totally agree with nybor, you have to fill the rubi almost to the top & it feels quite flimsy.

I only fill my KD about 20/30mm above the grill & this is then less than half full of water.

You can buy wheels for the KD if you really need them.

I put a thread up a few weeks ago about washboys & the majority would go for a KD.

Yeah you could cut them but you will end up with only a Quarter of the handle on each sponge!

I used to prefare the replacement wash boy sponges (the type you can glue onto your handle, if that makes sense) but I must admit I have done the same as Swanman with the Ardex/ bal sponges, only cut them in half to make them thiner.

My street cred has now probably gone out the window, but it works for me.

Phil, That is a great idea. My original sponges with my KD washboy were very good but the replacements are ok-ish,

I might give that a bash, how do you cut through the sponges to get a good smooth finish for the glue?

I meant to say I used to like the replacement washboy sponges, as a normal sponge (without the handle), but prior to that I did used to cut the Ardex/Bal type thick sponges in half using a hacksaw to make them easier to use. I have hunted about for the original sponges i had but i cant find them.

I bought replacements from TT but they are just not the same.

Nice looking Washboys, but a bit steep in the price department.

Think ill stick with my Genesis ones that come with wheels etc, and my own good rollers.
