The Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel Drive through any tunnel built in the first half of the twentieth-century, and the interior wall covering will most likely be “subway tiles.” Subway tiles have been a boon to modern decorative arts for awhile, now, but they’ve been an architectural staple for a much longer time.
