tiles removal from walls and floors

hi guys, great forum BTW.

just finished a 3 hour workout session of removing 3m2 of tiles from a kitchen wall :mad2:

the tiles were plain white ceramic (been on the walls quite a while by the looks of them)
and stuck solid like bricks!! to my surprise they were layed over wallpaper, how they stayed
on so well, I'm surprised.

anyway, do you guys have any suggestions or tips on how to remove tiles from floors...without
casuing too much damage to the floor in the process ???

welcome to the forum as above an sds drill and wide chisel, and hope they're not stuck too well

As above, and speed of this depends on how well they are fixed.

But if it took you 3 hrs to get tiles off wallpaper then we shall see you in a week with the floor. :lol:

i know, not really my cuppa tea. might need a profesional labourer to up the tiles then!

As others suggested SDS dril but I use a cranked chisel that gets under the tile more easily. Plenty available on the internet at good prices. Sometimes described as tile removing chisels.

it's slow work for me, I want minimal damage to the substrate.

don't want to attack it like a 250lb gorilla wearing trousers round the ankles!

I removed about 6 metres from a shower this week. Getting the tiles off wasn't a problem, catching several tiles as they all fell off at once was the issue! Oh how I love tubbed addy :yikes:

job done now, i was lucky to get half a tile off at a time. must of been tubbed concrete!
