tiling a living room

H i all,

Just wanted your thoughts on this

Traditionally wall tiles in the UK have been mainly used prodomenantly in kitchens and bathrooms.

i think its a time for change

do you think there could be a place for them in the livingroom, say mabe tiling one feature wll in natural stone like marble on granite, do you think this would look good, personally ithink it could look great if used in the right way.

ive just ran the idea by my girlfriend and she thinks there is no way it would look good but i firmly disagree.

whats your thoughts.

I think if you did a small focal wall say the size of a chimney stack in something like slate it would look awesome,very modern and cutting edge,As long as the rest of your decor and fitting are up to date and modern

When I went to the Tile and Stone show there was evidence that manufacturers were considering this. As well as in the living room also a panel behind the bed for example.

Floor tiling in living rooms has already kicked off in a big way and i think walls will follow........dave...

i think the next time i decorate the living room i will try it with some marble.

I seem to recall seeing plenty of modern loft style apartments having marble and granite walls on some of the house/diy/property programs on the TV.

Maybe it is the way things will go.

The way peoples lives are in these modern times,the prospect of no maitenance decor,even not having to paint,is becoming more and more inviting.....natural stone of any kind is fantastic for any setting...and will be the trend setter....Bring it on !!....Gaz
