Hi Again

Really Im looking for business mentoring help. Things like which type of work I should do first - domestic / commercial. Also need to know about tiling for different market sectors - like supermarkets, car showrooms etc. When you should go as a limited company. etc maybe Dan might open a forum devoted to the business side of tiling.

Hi, there has been quite a bit of input to the forums in the past regarding business structures, marketing and the like. Try doing a search and see what comes up. I know there are "stickies" on some parts of the forum regarding this stuff because I put the posts up myself.

Click the search button at the top and fill in a keyword or 2.

hello there

being involved in training tilers and seeing houndrends of them going self employed and 10's of them coming back for advice i would say the key ingredients for successful income are the following:
  1. be freindly and be polite!
  2. be clean and tidy as if it is a perversion of yours!
  3. on your first few months trade time for perfection of the job that you are doing
  4. always give the customer your card/marketing material
  5. MOST IMPORTANT measure your marketing i.e. if you invest £300 on advertising make sure you know how successfulit has been and every phone call you get ask the person where the heard of your company? this way you will know which investment is worth doing
  6. UNDERSTAND WHO YOUR CUSTOMERS ARE AND TARGET HOW YOU ARE GOING TO GET TO THEM
we get so many people who throw money away on advertising that does not work and get mindwarped by people to get websites etc.. only invest on WHAT YOU KNOW WILL GET YOU A RETURN.

P.S. applogies in advance for the waffle but a have had a couple of drinks
