Re: Tiling on tiles

It is possible to lay floor tiles on existing floor tiles but is unwise. The reason is you have to rely on what has been laid before and if you are unsure how well the original tiles are laid i would stay well clear and relay the floor yourself, at least then you can be assured that what you have laid will be correct and sound.

Re: Tiling on tiles

If you are sure the existing floor is ok, make sure the floor is really clean and free from all grease and dirt and all tiles are sound and not cracked..
You can use

BAL Rapidset

NOTE: The physical properties of BAL RAPIDSET with Porcel Bond Plus can be enhanced by the addition of BAL ADMIX AD1.

Hello mate,

I would do this the following way;

first remove any broken or loos tiles and fill place with a repairing compound.

clean floor and use degreaser to lift any old grease etc.

prime floor with a suitable primer for screeding over and screed with a self levelling compound.

you now have a flat surface to tile over

I normally try to use products from the one manufacturer as they always specify products that tie in together. e.g. primers, screeds and adhesives etc.

would anyone else do this similar? how would you do it?

If these tiles are a glassy finish, then you will need a highly flexible adhesive to get a good bond.......wash the tiles down with a degreaser and clean with plenty clean water....You can use rapid setting adhesive with a flexible additive and mix according to the instructions, this is usually 1 to 1 with water........A flexible grout would be a good idea as well........
