tiling on chipboard

can someone please assist ! i am going to tile my bathroom floor it currently has 18mm chipboard flooring that is waterproofed further to this it has had a coat of pva at 3 to one mix slapped on it. what is now going to be the best way to tile on this surface some have said i can tile on the chipboard others have said no or that it needs pva ing etc etc. what is the answer ??? cheers

the answer is... NO!!.....you'll need to overlay the chipboard with hardibacker250 (6mm) glued and screwed to your chipboard and tile onto this. Don't prime with PVA, it's the devils porridge! No need to prime at all with the HB250hope this helps

You will need to make sure the floor is virtually deflection free before overboarding with HB250..

Make sure chipboard is solid as the backer boards dont have the structural strength that a thicker ply sheet would have.
