Tiling on floorboards

Hi everyone,
Have job coming up that requires me to tile (ceramic) onto floorboards in a hallway. The floorboards are in perfect condition and are floating. Serious hollow sound when u walk on them. What do I need to do before I even lay a tile??

Very unusual to have this combination, generally floating floors are chipboard or plywood !

I'm pretty sure he means suspended. If it was floating, the insulation would deaden any hollow sound wouldn't it?

Depends if the boards are an overlay on orignal floor.....we need to know more details please.....

Sorry for delay back, ya suspended floorboards. Thinking of taking up altogether and lay down plywood and tile over that.
