Hi,

Asked my tile warehouse if tiling on top of Marley tiles on concrete was Ok - answer was yes, no problem if Marley tiles solid and been down for some time - which they are and have.

A flooring specialist happened to be on site and asked if I was going to tile on top of the Marley tiles. Given the advice of my supplier (who shall remain nameless!) I said yes. He was obviously surprised and said the Marley tiles would sweat and may lift off of the concrete giving a problem in time.

You can hear the question coming - should I lift the Marley tiles or is it OK to tile on top of them?

Appreciate any advice.

Lift them.... Grind off the bitumen glue they are stuck down with then prime and tile.

I prefer to lift them, it's often surprising how a seemingly solid floor soon pops up! I find a heat gun helps with the really tough ones
