Tiling onto plasterboard - do you tile onto ivory or brown side?

I've always tiled onto the ivory/white side. However, I've come to a job where the plasterboard has been put up (half of it anyhow so far) with the brown side showing. I want to tile straight onto this (standard gypsum), does it matter which side or shall I have the boards turned around? The customer wants to wallpaper the upper half as well which isn't tiled..

Also, this is a oldy woldy house and the all the studs, floor, and ceiling and window are all crooked and trying to fit board exactly is obscene! Any tips for fillling in smallish gaps that will cope with wallpaper being stuck to it?

Personally I'd turn it round..... No idea what the weight limit would be tiling the wrong side

The ivory side is for fixing to, get them to turn it round....

You can wallpaper the back of plasterboard as I understand it, but as was said earlier not sure about the weights so turn it round. You will have to scribe the board in if you want to paper it

It's all the ivory side nowadays John, years ago it was one side for plastering and the other side for decorating/dry linning.

surley the part thats getting wallpapered hat to be plastered?....when they come to strip the paper it will take the plasterboard with it?

A Gyproc Drywall sealer should be applied to the board so steaming wall paper off won't cause any problems....
