Hi

I'm going to a job tomorrow that involves tiling onto some quarry tiles on a floor in a conservertry. The tiles that are going to be layed ontop are 330 by 330. The existing tiles are bedded onto the concrete base of the conservertry & i'm told are solid (by the builder) . The builder has supplyed the addy & grout recommended by the shop that the tiles have come from. so hope fully everything will be fine there.

What should I prime the quarry tiles with, would bal APD be ok? Also would a 10mm notched trowel be the best thing for applying the adhesive?

Thanks in advance

Matthew

Make sure the quarry tiles are cleaned thoroughly, as the probably have had a polish or wax of some sort applied to them over the years, and if this is not cleaned you could have problems. Something like ******* Nanoscrub should remove any sealant on the tiles.

Personally i would use an isolation membrane , there are a lot of joints there which could cause stress fractures to the new tiles with the amount of thermal expansion associated with conservatory's.........they can get quite hot in the summer months..........just a thought matt...........
