Tiling onto Terracota

Good evening all.

I have been to see a kitchen floor which is 150 x 150 terracotta tiles.
Very clean surface and very solid to the cement sub base.
Has anybody tiled direct to these before or is this bad practice.
I have a couple of few days where I can fit it in if I go direct.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Terracotta will be the colour - most likely they are quarry tiles and if clean and well fixed will take tiling ontop of!

You will still need to chemically strip the tiles Kev , then latex the floor flat

What do you recommend for the stripping Gary, please? Lithofin Wax Off rings a bell.

Also I take it the Latex is purely to create a better surface fore the adhesive to key to.

If there is a film of old sealers/oil/ wax , test wax off or other suitable stripper, as John , does poss sound poss quarry at 150sq any pics?

Most likely porcelain, unless there really old. I don't sell much real terracotta these days.
If there porcelain, 'eco prim grip' them and tile right over.

6inch tiles - most likely dust pressed or Quarries.
Terracotta was one of the best surfaces for aesthetic values in the history of tiling ( IMHO) but was ruined in our trade by the lack of knowledge and 'everyone' can do it attitude.
That makes me very old!
