Tiling over a window

Hi, just joined this forum & I,m fitting a new bathroom suite in my house, ( i havent done this before) I'm tiling the walls aswell, I,m pretty ok with most of the tiling, but its the tiles over the window, will they stick or slowly slide down.

you may have to nail a batten fro the window head reveal to support your tiles mate, until they have set

NAH!! Don't use that adhesive mate...go to tile giant etc and get some mapei D2 adhesive...it has better none slip than fix and grout stuff.

You will need soe powder mix grout as well.

Is the wall face over the window fairly level? (ie you won't be packing the tiles out much) can't speak for wickes brand products, but as a rule diy/own brands tend to be cheap for a reason. Get yourself some BAL wall adhesive (the cheapest is the green which should suffice in a non wet area) make sure you get the bed even and tap in with your rubber mallet (they may take a bit of 'twisting' to bed in securely) you may experience a bit of drop as they go off, just keep an eye on them and push in as required. Failing that, pull a line off of the corresponding course to the top of the window and pin a batten across the face of the window to support the top courses, if you haven't set it out as a whole tile to the window but a cut, just fix the course over the window span..as always level..level and level! so that you don't come off as you carry on around the room!..sometimes if they are particularly heavy tile this is easier, and you can carry on fixing the other side of the room..like I said tho' LEVEL!..lest you be in serious trouble!..best of luck mate

Also remember if packing out is required then bucket adhesive is no good...3mm max bed depth...you will need to use a bagged adhesive suiable for the depth you have to pack out...making good any bad area's helps out first.

I've had private jobs before where that's been supplied...I refuse to touch it..THE worst idea since Gordon Brown.
why would two separate components work as one???..prehaps there's a pre wall paper covered plasterboard available from all good diy stores??!

Somebody has already thought of that as they do exist, I used to install them in office partions

Yeah the metel trims hold the panels in place

35 years ago they were laying 4 foot wide wall paper on plasterboards then fixing with strips
