tiling over bitumen

i removed old tiles and found bitumen underneath started laying tiles down but they are not sticking at all any advice on what to use

i take it the glue is comming off the bitumen clean and staying on tile:20:

its staying on bitumen but its not going hard or sticking to it

what are you using .bitumen is normally petrolium based .whats under it :20:

removed old council tiles,solid concrete underneath with bitumen over it ,im using unibond concrete adhesive ,not sticking at all theyve been down for a good 6 days now and havent taken

any chance of removing bitumen so you can clean concrete and lay on that:20:

Clean off as much as possible and then use self levelling compound.

Or remove as much loose stuff as possible then prime with an epoxy primer.

Hi John

Wire brush the bitumen, clean and prime with SBR.
I would use any s2 type adhesive.
The elastic polymer in it acts as an adhesion enhancer enabling it to stick better to the bitumen.

Works for me. Never had any problems doing it this way
