Hey, I might have a hallway to tile. I have a few questions, I wonder if you can help me with. Is it ok to tile over the orginal tiles as long as there firm? Is there any particular way of telling how firm they are? Also what kind of primer would I need? Or is it best of ripping them up and starting a fresh. Thanks for any help

is it on a solid floor? eg concrete?
allways advise to rip up existing tiles as the finish will ultimatly be better.
if the existing floor is solid, flat it can be done.
mix acryilic primer with a little rapid set adhesive and put it on tiles to create a good key.
it should be good to tile on in a couple hours.

I allways use flexy adhesive. for the little extra cost gives me piece of mind

If you rip them up you are better of to laytex the floor. Tile on top if you have the clearance for doors carpet ect, u will already have the flat surface as the last tiler would of done all that for u. Year ago we never had all these primers. Sugar soap the tiles to clean all the grease off then key tiles then SPF or rapid which ever u like. Hope this helps.
