tiling/plasterboard

im starting mums new bath room this week im planning on putting the bath along side a stud wall
is it best to re please the stud wall with normal plaster board or use moisture resistant plaster board round the bath/shower im tiling it

im planning on plastering all the walls and lid first before fitting the new bathroom


soo it will be plaster board skim then tiled

Why skim if you are tiling ?

As above, no need to skim if you're tiling. Not only is it extra cost and effort, it actually holds less weight than the plasterboard alone.

its just im plastering the room thats all

Are you only tiling half height then and painting the rest or something?

nope all the way up lenth of the bath

Don't bother plastering any areas your tiling. Plaster is a weaker surface to tiling onto the plaster board.

one more thing
the bath and sink are all going along a stud wall
a plumber mate told me to cut in a bit of ply too fix the sink too.
i don't know if im going too pull down the old wall back to stud work or over board the wall will see if i feel or rrr: on the day
do i cut the ply in too the plaster board or try too cut it in too the old wall then over board it
trying to plaster in too the ply or just try to put it in behind the plaster board ???????

in useing 12.5mm plaster board soo ill tape and joint the wall were the tiles are going then plaster the rest
or just leave the joints then tile do i need to scrim the joints first

as its a wet wall ie side of the bath do i need m/r plaster board or will normal plaster board be ok
