Hi All, several questions; how long should I leave newly plastered walls before tiling the bathroom? Can I get away with priming walls with Bal SBR or Prime APD prior to tiling and are these suitable for both plaster and plasterboard? Or, should I use Mapai Primer as I'm thinking of using Keraflex Mapai powdered adhesive? I've tiled bathrooms in the past but never bothered priming and used 6"sq tiles back then (never had any tiles fall off!). Am using 400x250x8mm tiles this time. Some advice would be much appreciated!:helpsmilie:

Hi,

Use APD for your plasterboard and skimmed walls. Use neat from the bottle.
You haven't mentioned floor tiling, but APD is a good primer for timber floors as well, again used neat.

What are your tiles? Ceramic, procelain etc.

Thanks, they're ceramic tiles

The newly plastered walls have had a base plaster then skim on top. Will they hold 400x250x8mm tiles ok?

its weight per m2 of tiles not the size of the actual tile that matters....Those tiles would probably weigh the same as 1m2 of 200 x 200 tiles....same as ton of feathers ton of bricks ....

So yes you will be fine.
