Tiling questions

evening men.. im new on the forum and want to become a Tiler... im a plasterer by trade and recently broke my arm after falling of my stilts, im back on the stilts, but cant see myself doing it forever so want to branch out a little, so im not cripple when im older,, anyway.

could some explain to me the difference between modified and un-modified tile adhesive... I thought the difference was a cement based adhesive, being flexible and non flexible..?

also ive been looking at weight limits with tiling on different surfaces.. whats the deal with tiling on to dot & dabbed plaster board walls in a bathroom.. is it possible or should they be removed?

thanks white beam,, that info is a big help thanks.. im more intrested on tiling on to dot and dab plasterboard.. myself personally i would remove it as dry wall adhesive dosn't like damp condition,, but i recently saw a reputable company round by me.... setting a room out using dot and dab plasterboard technique ? what are your thoughts on thats. thanks

I've done of dot and dabbing plasterboard in bathrooms, you could tank the walls in a shower area...

also.. do the weights limits u showed me apply for dot and dab plasterboard.. what surface did u dot and dab on to,, breeze block? was there a cavity? or was that up to the plasterer/builder.. thanks..

Not 100% sure what you mean but if you dry wall theres usually a gap of 10mm behind the boards, I've fixed the boards to old brickwork, blockwork and old render that has been hacked off...

Dot and dab has no weight issues at all.
if you are a plasterer and have done it right it is not a problem.
You ever tried to knock some off ? Dry wall is blinking good stuff
