Tiling Swimming Pool

Ive been tiling for about 7 years but its always been bathrooms and kitchen walls and floors, ive now been asked to price a job for tiling a pool. Can anyone give advice on this . The pool is 8M x 4M and has been made waterproof.

Hello maclure. It needs a bit more informations. Indoor or outdoor pool, what kind of tiles, tile size, what kind of water, average temperature, public or private pool, does it have a skimmer or a surrounding channel, under water lights, is the basin constructed waterproof concrete, the basin doesn´t leake?

Agree with all the above coments Ive done a couple in Spain, if mosiac remember the sides are not normally square the bottom of pools are bowl like, and with mosiac you have to form seems in the corners takes a lot of time to get a good effect be wary of this

The most important thing to know is that the tiles must be solid bedded.This is usually achieved by backbuttering the tiles as well as spreading adhesive on substrate. It is also vital that the wall tiling is perfectly level as it will be shown up by the poolwater level. Invest in a good laser level to ensure this.

pools dont take long there just strait walls really
them steps were a bugger though

Remember this....if there are lights in the pool, you will have to make sure that there is no lipping on the walls because when they are switched on it will really sh*t...Mark.

Lovely job on those steps. How did you finish the edge? We are about to do a border around the top of a pool and the steps, but are not sure what kind of trim to use that would be okay under water. Don't want children having sharp step edges? thanks Steve
