Tiling to Blockwork.

Just a quick one. Has anyone ever been asked to tile to blockwork before and if so what was the outcome?
When i say blockwork i mean concrete block wall. Not aerated blocks or brickwork.
My initial thoughts were it would need rendered but is this is avoidable?

I think Dave has done this recently, rendered it with rapid set first if I remember correctly.

If it's dead flat then it should be no problem but a primer maybe needed....

only problem you will have is any unevenness of wall. brick edges standing proud ect.
6 foot level. chissel any proud spots off, screed any voids. good to go

Ye, i did 4 bathrooms over blocks... builder too tight to dry line :lol:

i burned in the walls with rapid set and then tanked where required etc and tiled.. was a tedious job as blocks were not flat as the bricky thought they were to be dry lined as well, so had cement snots etc to chop off.
