tiling under quadrant shower tray

Good Afternoon Everyone,

other than it being a waste of tiles and money, it there a technical reason why a quadrant shower tray- or any other size tray- should not be fixed to a completely tiled floor ? I have always had the tray fitted and tiled around it but have been asked the question and would like to know the answer.

No reason why it shouldn't be tiled first - makes it watertight underneath- and certainly no excuse for it not being level!

Good Morning Timeless John, thanks for the reply. I just seemed to remember form somewhere that, technically, there was a problem with this. I suppose the install would be easier and the curved line as smart as you like. Thanks again.

Probably to do with the way a plumber will never have the waste in the correct place and will need to beat the tiles up again.

9 out of 10 times walla are not square so you would need to apply selant with showel and smooth it wit rake.

ok. in that case i dont see a problem. tile floor than stick tray with proper adhesive
