Hi to all in the Forum here - been reading all your fantastic advice in here for a while, I am a keen DIY er and have been tiling for my friends and family for a few years now and enjoy it very much.

I have a wife and two beautiful kids under 3 :whatchutalkingabout which are great with minimal sugar!

Lucky enough to live up in the highlands and also unlucky enough to lose my job last month! (No More Big companies for me EVER!)- going on a tiling course with Building skills acadamy in Newbury to try and refresh some skills and start to gain some experience as Tilers arn't in abundance up here.

I understand all of your views about walking into these courses an IT professional and coming out a Tiler, and I wholeheartedly agree, I would not question all your years of experience and talant, but I'm afraid up here you either work for Nuclear power, BT or yourself, after 6 years working my way to BT management my lovely lady boss :)mad2:) saw my demise with bad career advice and guidence and as the majority of us I need to support a family and pay a mortgage.
I would never tackle anything above my station but just want to move away from companies that dont care and earn a penny for a decent days work!

Well I have a couple of jobs running for some friends up here (laying ceramic floor tiles in a new build and refurbished property) and I am sure I'll be needing some of the great advice that you all seem to give! (Still trying to ease the tiling course line I put in )

Thanks guys and looking forwrad to chatting with some of you soon.
