Tiny bathroom, good use of space...

I did this TINY little bathroom last year. The customer had chosen big old tiles from Porcelanosa and to save space in the room he had the bath sunk into the floor. On top of the bath (with the top of the bath level with the floor) he had a teak roll mat, so that this space could be used as floor space or as a shower tray to stand while you have a shower and the water will pass through the mat and into the bath. Then the mat is rolled away and you can step down into the bath.

Hope this makes some kind of sense as the pics are a bit rubbish Im afraid as the room was so tiny and the tiles are hard to see as they are so white.

I am going back to the job in a month or so to make a start on ripping up the kitchen floor (some of you may remember the post I put up about the kitchen fitters attempt at it :yikes so will get some better snaps then.

Nice and clean but don't like the sunken bath idea...

In general I don't like it when baths are sunk too low but the idea of having it mainly as a wet room with occasional bath is great. Did the bath come designed like that? or did you make the side rails to place the teak matt in?

It's clever use of a tiny space. I take it that if the bath was at normal height you wouldn't be able to stand at the basin?

Dont think I explained correctly, the pics were taken without the mat. The mat is always there over the bath, there is no way of falling into the bath as the mat becomes part of the floor. You only roll the mat away when you want to have a bath.

I think the bath was designed like that, I had nothing to do with the construction of the room, only the tiling. It was carried out by one of the builders I work for. If the bath was stood on the floor as usual, there would be practically no space to swing any cats.

Silly that it is the only bathroom in the house to say it is a fair sized place.

I LOVE The idea of the teak roll mat, it will look great - and what a surprise for the unsuspecting to find a bathtub underneath! I'm glad I don't have to clean the bath, mind, but for such a tiny space,- great! really neat tiling, too...

I hadnt thought about keeping the thing clean! That would be a nightmare.

When I go back I will get some snaps of the room with the sanitary ware in place and the teak roll mat over the bath.

The tiles by the way (hard to see them in the pics) are the Porcelanosa 300mm X 900mm
Seem to be use a lot of them in the last 12 months and there seem to be a few posts floating around on here about them.

I dont like them much to be honest.
