as you lot may know been tiling for 4 years now just gone self employed the first few months where abit difficult but now everything is goin absolutely mad ive just got a contract which i started last week a care home in warrington a new build with 50 ( i think) bathrooms 2 of them fully tiled walls approx 40 sq m2 2 full bathrooms 20 m2 2 half tiled bathrooms i think 10 in each then once thats completed then theres another care home in skelmersdale to be done about 5 new build houses plus i have my own private jobs the site manager reckons i wont need to book much work in seems to think theres enough to keep me goin

also i got my first reply off gumtree chorley council asking for plastering work i just cant believe it being a young lad still i hope i can cope with the pressure (TO ALL NEWBIES KEEP AT IT)

For this job i told the builder £20 m2 wall tiling labour only do you think it is abit much considering tax and etc and its costing me a £10 day nearly in fuel let me know lads on some rough prices) I THINK I MIGHT HAVE TO START SUBBING WORK OUT SOON

thanks aran i ll bear you in mid if im struggling when the builder rung me up he asked me my prices so i said for labour only £20 ceramics £25 porcelain £30 -£40 for natural stone so i havent agreed a price as such a bit foolish but im going to tile the first bathroom and discuss payment then if we have agreed then carry on

the only reason i thought about the price was speaking to the site manager and he asked me what im charging i said £20 a metre said it was abit dear

the tiles are little 300x300 flat white ceramice tiles nothing in the rooms but for the size of the tiles though i think its defo worth 20 m2

Nice one LM. Looks like you got some good contacts and workload on the go. I would be charging minimum £20 per m2 for those size tiles. If you have so much work, stick to your guns price wise as thats the minmum a qualified tiler should be aiming for plus it doesnt matter if you lose the odd job based on your workload so wouldnt come down in price if I was you. Also, I only live in Leigh if you needed a hand but to be honest, I am snowed under myself at moment. Let me know though if you are struggling as I also have a tiler friend and if either of us gets too busy, we give each other a hand so could supply you with 2 quality tilers if needed and our workload enables us to do so. Geoff
