I don't do an awful lot of tiling and when I do it's usually Porcelanosa tiles but this customers chose the Topps porcelain tiles. What a pain they were. Having to strip wax off, seal with porcelain sealer and then buff it all up took the best part of a day. Are all of Topps porcelain tiles like this?

I think a lot of stores end up with them every now and again but I bet you'll find lads who have fixed them very ones from Topps on tilersforums.com

The wax is a pain in the bum on any tile to be honest and it doesn't matter where you get them from, if they have wax on, it's extra work guaranteed.

Most, cheaper, Chinese polished porcelain tiles come with thick transit wax. RAK doesn't and I've never seen it on any ITALIAN or SPANISH made porcelain. Its all down to price unfortunately. And yes its a pain to get off. Some sealers break it down easily rather than cleaners/strippers. MGP sealer by LTP works well to break the wax down.

Yes, the 600 x 300 polished black and the 600 x 300 polished white. Topps were telling me that the wax was there to stop scratches during transportation but I think it's just because they could be bothered to finish the manufacturing process

Topps don't manufacture tiles. They're a retailer. The wax is to prevent the polished surface getting damaged/scratched during transit and shipping.

Indeed it can be a pain!
