Tile retailers will snap you up for trade, as it brings custom to their place of sale.

Most stores will not bother with proof of work etc as they will just stick your cards into the rack and advise the customer that they have nothing to do with trades and that the cards are just an 'intro' to a tradesman.

The ones that require work evidence are the ones that push tradesmen onto customers. You tend to find here that you have to work for peanuts as the 'pool' of tilers the shop has are very competetive with each other when it comes to quoting. Not worth the hassle to be honest.
