Hi

Im going to be doing a kitchen splashback with travertine mosaic. Would it be ok for me to use an anglegrinder with a diamond blade for cuts rather than a wet cutter?
It'll be alot easier using a grinder.

cheers

it will cut them OK but i can't see why it would be easier:pete

i used angle grinders for external work when i worked for my dad. ie paving, stone cutting etc. i would think its better to have a cheap plasplugs wet cutter rather than an angle grinder. you dont have to keep popping out side to do your cuts, less dust etc.

but as it has been said many many times on here, if it works for you then fine.

i have a plasplugs mastertiler with a marcrist disc and i will be getting a rubidw250 n this week so the need for a angle grinder isnt there, but if you dont have those recourses, then a 40 quid angle grinder is the answer..

For me its more convienient, not having to lug about, set up and clean the wet cutter just for a few cuts, just get out the grinder and its done.

I started using an angle grinder when i was helping out another tiler on a site job, that was what he used, it was so much quicker and I was converted. Also with natural stone you'd have to seal the tiles before using a wet cutter (preferably).
Dont think the finish is any better or worse, although that may depend on the blade you use.
As said - each to his own.

I've now bought an angle grinder just for when there's only a few cuts so saves me time not having to set up wet cutter, fill with water and clean out.

dONE EXACTLY THE SAME sI,BOUGHT A bosch grinder from argos for 45 quid:thumbsup: i was working with some really big tiles that did not fit my dry cutter 660 porcelain.
