I am concerned about the weight loading with travertine on skimmed plasterboard to a stud wall. Interested to know options available - could I go with extra wall fixings or replace plasterboard to ply or backer boards What experience do you guys have and what is the shear weight for plasterboard I believe someone mentioned 20kgs in an earlier post

Can I ask the question is this weight allowance taken when the plasterboard/plaster is in the horizontal position and the weight of the tile/adhesive etc is in the downward motion - ie as stuck on the ceiling.
Or is it taken when the weight of the tiles+ to the vertical wall are stacked on top of each other and in which case when fixed using my plumb levelling system - the weight is stacked on top of each tile in perfect symmetry.
I wonder if there is a measurement of force that is required to pull 20kg - 32kg of a vertical wall surface!
Just a technical thought!
Here to be educated!

Very similar thread to the one where i'm getting my butt chewed off, If the walls are solid and with no give then I really cannot see the problem, tiles are supported from the floor up, I have never known tiles to fall off because they are too heavy. Inspect the walls throughly and if you have any misgivings then carry out the appropriate remedial works, unless you have an architect on site and then obviously he/she knows best.

timeless has just taken me back to the good old days, when swan vestas could be used as more than a tool for lighting your woodbines, on the topic of spacers how long have you had yours, I mean do you keep them like I do, I have names for them, one leg joe, covered in adheshive( but he will clean up ) pete, be honest guys, when you hoover up how many spacers do you rescue for the next job? BE HONEST!!
