trouble withardex 6001 with underfloor heating

has anyone had trouble with porcelain tiles coming up when stuck with ardex 6001 tile adv. when used over underfloor heating?

I have never used 6001 but it should be fine for the application you mention. What is the substrate and was the heating level increased gradually when it was first switched on after tiling?

wooden floor, detra mating, flexi laytex, warmup under floor heating, flexi laytex adv. and then tiles. 6001 has gone like crazy paving

6001 is not suitable for timber substrates julian..should have been 7001 timber system................there must have been to much movement for the 6001 to handle...............

yes, glued to the wooded floor as it should be. i have done 1000's of sq mt's of it. only had trouble with 6001. no other adv's.

i think sombody turned the heating on before the adhesive cured naturally.
after laying the tiles you should leave the underfloor heating off for around
2 weeks this is why i think the adhesive has crazed due to massive expansion and contraction over a short period of time.....

Not sure if that is the problem though Dave. Looking at the Ardex manual, if the tiles are not directly stuck to the timber, ie there is insulation board or in this case Ditra, then 6001 should have been fine. Otherwise deffo 7001 straight to the tiles.

Would like to see what order the stuff had been laid. If it is as given above I don't think that is correct. The Ditra should have gone over the UFH surely?

very true grumps...as i said the ditra should go uve the top of the ufh.........but also if there is deflection in the timber then the 6001 won't take it and also as stated by protiler it also might be heat shock to the adhesive bed..........

i agree with grumpy and dave however if you put dietra down on floorboards that are sound and then screed with slc min 10mm you have a concrete floor.....
with this in mind i am still thinking the customer turned it on to test it.

Thats why i said it should go above , becuase IMO its the best result in using it........

Also if there is too much deflection in the timber substrate then the ditra won't work anyway...............

Got to agree here, thermal shock sounds good to me. Maybe a chat with Ardex tech support will shed some light.
