Just had a call from these guys. was wondering if they are one of these scam things. he said he could get me jobs from contractors etc.

I hung up on him because 1) i thought it was one of these scams and
2) I was in bed wi the old "manflu" lol

has anyone had any calls from these guys?

Also had a call from the yellow pages wanting me to get listed on yell.com? any tips or things to look out for for when I call the guy back?

Never had a call from these guys I'm afraid, can't say I have heard of them either.

Yell.com is a waste of space as far as i am concerned. I may have had one call in 4 years.
As for Trusted Tilers i have never heard of them. If they call again get details and let us know.

so just stay clear off yell? is it expensive to get listed on there?

think i'll call him back and enquire about the free listingts in the book.

You get one line free, but then you will get the sales talk telling how many enquiries they get each week for tilers in your area and there arent too many at the moment so it will be good for you to advertise.....and and why dont you take out a larger ad, which of course will cost you....Dont bother is my advice.

Hi Mmate,

Had these calls for another bsuiness I have ran in the past.

They are a con. These guys hire telesales staff to contact us guys and say they have work in the area or supply hospital, gevernment work etc for contractors. They then ask for a fee usaully upwards of £100 - 300. Not worth it mate. Dont think they would even get you work, if they did then you would be bidding agaianst other conractors.

Another one is people asking you to place an add in a magizine that is to be distrubuted here there and everywhere, they advise you they make no proffit as all funds raised will go to police chirities etc. They try and make you feel guilty by saying things like 'I know you probably want to give something back to the comminty, social responsibilty etc, etc, etc)

All scams mate.

Your particular call sounds like someone wanting to add you to there online database and charge you a small fee. Again you would probably be competing for bids etc. These things are never as effective as local advertising.

It is usualy wanna be entrpenuers looking to make easy cash from hardworking tradesman like us lot. This is a very common thing right now with people setting up turnkey online businesses. The guys that own most of them can be students, part time or full time workers and usaully have little or no experience in business.

I get one all the time saying high are you busy or can u take on more work?

After 30 minutes of them telling you they have customers that want tiling and they can supply the leads for ya they hit a with the " it only cost x ammount per month"

The last time i had one was about 2 weeks ago. It was a northern bird, she started all the waffle and i stopped her and said " i get these calls all the time and im nt interseted thanks". Now i thought this was very poliet, she then said" how do you know your not inerested when i haven't told you what im offering"

I said " does it end with me paying money?"

"well we offer you ....."

"Does it involve me paying any money to you at all???"

"only a small fee and we........"

"DOES IT INVOLVE ANY MONEY WHAT O EVER!!!?????"

"Yes Sir"

"Then i'm not interested thank you"

"Your just a fuc**ng loser ain't ya!" she said.

"Excuse me?" i said.

" Your just a stupid ****ing loser goodbye"

and that was the end of the phone call.

Withheld number, no way to call back and complain or to argue back

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't seem to have any problem with these cold callers. maybe it is because I don't have any adverts out or the fact that I don't have my number in Yellow Pages or the phone book for tiling! Makes you wonder how I get any work.:whatchutalkingabout

Yep, Stay away from the cold callers asking you if you wish to take on work for the - they always charge a fee for the service.

I always fob them off or hang up. I think they get your info from Yell but they will only chase you for so long.

I registered on FindTrustedTradesmen and as soon as I done that I got the calls the next day so I guess they got my info from there.
