Twitter is valued at 3.7 billion but only earns around 50 mill from adverts etc.. but they are to introduce a new advertising scheme for customers and you can advertise on Twitter and when someone replies to your advertising tweet then you get charged.. i wonder how advertises will get sneaky to over come this..

Re: Twitter site vlaued at 3.7 billion

Old news that! lol That was last week! It'll be worth more this week

You know Zuckerberg (the facebook guy) has pledged to give a crazy percentage of his life earnings away to charity!!! 90% or something.

Oh lol

Never clicked.

And they will monetize it. When they launched with no adverts at all, they said on their small about page that they are not concentrating on getting the site monetized at this point but getting members using it and improving user experience along with connecting with existing social platforms. That was months after it was launched. Which suggests like brownbook.net that they're using the model of getting many users to it, and then monetizing it. It's what youtube did, and it's what facebook is doing with more geo-tagetted ads that fit the exact demographic for each user (kind of one step ahead google there even).

So they will. And they'll be accurate to what you've been tweeting about too. So they'll annoy you as you will keep reading them

Sorry to be a bearer of bad news. Don't shoot the messenger. haha

Then you'll get more of the same ads displayed in your account. You're best ignoring them all and eventually they'll change to something less related to what you're talking about to try and entice you. Then they'll be obviously different to you so you wont click on them by accident thinking it's a reply to something. Which is what they want.

In facebook you can click an X by an advert and give a reason why you dont want to see it. The more you click to remove ads, the more they know which ads to deliver. I went on a spree of clicking the x on them all and now they have electrical courses and even some of our sponsors showing! That's creepy!

It's because they know what groups I've made, what websites I've linked to, what I've said, what I've click X on, my age, my area, where I live, where I am at when I "check in" using Facebook Places, and even what i've eaten some days and with some other people (not me) even when they go the loo!

You can't expect a firm with all that info to not put it in part of their business model money-wise.
