Two grout colours

Have just completed a Bathroom,but,initially the customer wanted two grouuts used.
One was white,for the white tiles.
The second was blue,for a blue border.
i informed her she would need to buy the blue grout,also a sealer to protect it.
in the end she changed the border and ALL of the grouting was finished in white.
my question to you pro tilers is:do you have to seal a blue grout to protect it,if you then have to grout the rest of the room in white,and how much time would you have in between applications?
thanks for any advice you can offer on this one.

i don't think you need the sealer,but i would leave to totally dry say 24hrs then do the lighter colour

also tape over the edges of the darker colour with masking tape helps

I once did a job with a 100x 250 black/glitter glass tile border. Also used a chrome edging strip above and below the border, which I masked off with tape and newspaper.

The main tiles were 400x250 white ceramic with black grout, which I grouted first, then added grout protector just to be safe.

Next day I masked off the black grout line and white tiles above and below the border. Then I added white grout to the border, only inbetween the trims.

It didn't look to good right after I grouted, because you could see the white grout in the corners where I had cut the glass tile with a wet wheel (tut-tut). So I then added a bead of black silicone using masking tape again to give it a crisp neat edge. In the end it wasn't visible - phew!

Looked very sleek, and not a stain in sight anywhere - using BAL grout too. All that said, it was very time consuming and I'm not looking forward to getting asked to do it again
