A phone call late last week asking if I could do a job today. Yes I said, what are the details ? Travertine walls on plaster they say, What size I ask ? 600x300 they reply. I comment that they would probably be too heavy for the skimmed walls. the Plumber understood but said well see what you think when you get there.
Anyway I printed off some sheets regarding weight limits etc and went over this morning with a set of scales. The travertine was 600x400 and quite thick. I weighed them at 36kg per m2 not inc adhesive and grout.
The client came and saw me and I explained , expecting the usual " cant you just fix them anyway? " and to my surprise he understood the situation and thanked me. He commented and said, " I am glad you showed me those papers on weight limits, I am sure had the plumber done the tiling that he would have just fixed them"
Ok so it was a wasted journey but i will sleep better and client had my card and is going to change tiles to something more suitable.
Now just had to pull a job forward which another client is happy about but he cant get back to the house until lunch time now. ...Time for Coffee and toast !
